A visit to Panchkula in Haryana is incomplete

making a trip to the Cactus Garden .
Cactus
Garden is Asia's biggest garden devoted to rare
and endangered species having more than 3500
species. The out door Cactus Garden has 25
raised ground features, 3 water bodies with
water ways. On raised mounds about 800 species
of Cacti and Succulents have been naturalized.

Echinocactus grusonii have extensively been used
as main landscape plant.

A group of Bursera
(Mexican Origin) are in shape of big trees.

A
thick elongated Cactus Carnegia gigantea
(Saguaro Cactus of Arizona) a slow growing Cacti
can attain height of 30 feet to 40 feet .

Collection of Pachypodium extremely rare plants
are also in cultivation.

Fouquiria spendens is
from Arizona ,Gardens has three species of it.

Adenia Venenata was field collected from Yemen.
It belongs to Passifloraceae family.
The Garden
has 272 species of genus Mammillaria and 160
species has been naturalized out door. The
magnificent plants of Aloe speciosa, Aloe ferox
& other exotic species can be seen here. In low
growing cacti such as Mamillarias, Astrophytum,
Notocacti and several other species have been
used in the fore ground of the feature.
Bonsai
collection of succulent and non succulent plants
has been created and gifted by J.S.Sarkaria.
This educative collection displays different
styles of bonsai. Garden has nine glass houses
having collection of practically all the know
genera of cactus. Garden also has highly
representative collections of Haworthias,
Aloes
